How many HPV genotype caused infection?

There are quite a variety of HPV types. At present, more than 200 types have been found. About 40 types can infect the skin or mucous membrane of the lower genital tract. Sexual contact is the main route of infection, but it may also be caused by genital-skin contact.

What cancer related to HPV infection?

Carcinogenic HPV can cause a variety of cancers, such as cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, vulvar cancer, anal cancer, etc. Among them, cervical cancer is the most common. Carcinogenic HPV is a necessary cause of cervical cancer.

HPV genotype classification?

HPV that can infect the lower genital tract can be classified according to its degree of correlation with cervical cancer:

Low-risk Type (low-degree association with cervical cancer, CINII, and III)
6, 11, 40, 42, 43, 44, 54, 61, 62,70, 72, 74, 81, CP8061, CP8304, etc.
Among them, types 6 and 11 are often found in the genital warts (commonly known as cauliflower).

High-risk Type (A carcinogenic virus highly associated with cervical cancer, CINII, and III.)
16, 18, 26, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 45, 51, 52, 53, 56, 58, 59, 66, 67, 68, 69, 73, 82, MM4, etc.
In cervical cancer tissues, the 16 and 18 types are the most common.

Undetermined risk HPV Genotype:
32, 55, 83, etc.

How is the prevalence of HPV infection?

According to the National Bureau of Health, the prevalence of high-risk HPV in women is about 10-15%, and more than half of the HPV of infected people disappear within one year. Sustained high-risk HPV infection can cause cervical cell variability and even lead to cancer.

Why HPV Genotyping Test in Gnosis is different?

The HPV Genotyping IVD Kit adopted by Gnosis Labs is based on the fact for the purposes of detecting different types of HPV, in order to provide a better acknowledgement for screening and tracing the HPV infected patients. By this test, it could detect and identify 27 HPV genotypes.

The HPV CONSENSUS refers to the probe on chip. This control serves as a HPV positive control, which indicates the presence of HPV in sample, and not limited to the 27 genotypes specified on the chip. To solve the unknown types of HPV, we will further use sequencing and other methods to determine its type. Currently, use this system, at least 33 different HPV typescan be separated.
